What Is Going To happen Here?

I knew it was just a matter of time before I got around to writing about Egypt.  I have been following this compelling story since it started.  I will make a separate post on the topic.  Do you wonder if something like this could ever happen here in the U.S.? And what would it take to spark off such a revolution?  I am a proud American by birth, by allegiance, and in spirit.  It would definitely be a sad day but could become one of the most defining moments in history.  I served in the military so I have been on both sides of the spectrum.  What I want is for Congress to put aside egos and to work with President Obama to help strengthen this country back to prominence.  Americans need to act like Americans.  Why not buy American and start supporting more stateside causes instead of the overseas causes until everything is good here at home?  We tend to use patriotism as a knee jerk reaction after the fact.  After something terrible has happened.  Use all of your energy constructively instead of becoming part of the problem.  I see the "Tea Party" as a joke.  They have a good premise but no substance.  The people that represent them have crazy agendas.  Not to mention all of the negativity that has surrounded gatherings and protests.  They have changed the atmosphere of politics but not in a positive way.  The whole vote with your guns kind of mentality has no place in this society.  Just take a good look at what happened in Arizona.  I strongly feel that, due to the volatile atmosphere in politics, this event happened.  Not everyone is strong enough mentally to handle the in-your-face style of politics without taking it a step further.
The events that have happened in Tunisia and Egypt might end up being a precursor to what's to come over there in other countries. Hopefully, we can all come together without taking it that far in the U.S.  What do you think is to come here in the states?  What do you think about the way things are going here?

  2. I do not think that something similar would even happen in the USA. This country is not actively "educated" both cultural and socially to carry on such a protest. Do not get me wrong: We have pretty good reasons ( mostly economical) to take the streets and show our discontent and disconfort for some political manouvers in the past decade, but I'm afraid, we lack of the activist tradition that reigns in Europe for instance. Plus, would you think that to the face of the American media and public opinion would something like this would ever be welcome, analyzed, treated or discussed from an impartial point of view?

  4. I wonder if we (Everyone that lives here) have just become fat, lazy and happy. Problems around the world are just a news clip on CNN and we are more concerned with American Idol or some other crap that satiates our mind! Our corporations aka puppet masters would never let what is happening in Egypt happen here, to much profit lost from us buying useless shite.
I guess that's why I blog about breasts and other such delightful topics.
ps. thanks for the follow and comments
    Cheers, Sausage...

  6. The people revolt when the risk to them doing so, such as loss of life, destruction of business, homes infrastructure during the revolution are preferable to continuing to live the life they do.
If you have nothing,-freedom,money,possessions, then the option of revolution may be better.
As for Americans, perhaps as Sausage Fingers says, most are 'fat, lazy, and happy'so they'll never revolt, because they have too much to lose.

  7. Some great ideas and I agree with your sentiment, in helping our country prosper. Things are never easy and there are always underlying issues that are at play when it comes to foreign policy...but for sure, we should concentrate on the stability of our country. I think one way is to get politicians in office that actually have some integrity!

  8. I too have watched it and I agree with your concerns. I don’t want to be put to the point that a gun is needed. Somehow we have to get congress to stop campaigning when the election is over. stop the party bull and get to work on solving the problems. Stop all the money grabbing taxing for someone pet pig. If a bill cannot stand on its own, propping it up with pork barrel spending only makes is worse. No guns, but maybe a face book in the face of congress and a book across the ass, Will work. As to if it could happen here, it has in the past the freedom march, the World War 1 vets, and civil war. Could it happen here yes?

  9. Some excellent ideas and comments. So far beyond our youth - look at our education system. How many people do you think would be educated on real World affairs? Reality shows aren't reality but too many of our youth can't discern. Enough on my soapbox. Following the post and mine is not related - but appreciate any followers at usagmparts.blogspot.com - Bob

  10. Nice Article Ricky, I normally don't comment or join in discussions like this, I find our government lacking. We send our people over, destroy a country, then keep our men there to rebuild it. Yeah I know we need certain things from them to make our life here in the US better, but seriously we have starving babies here, homeless, jobless and we are over in some country feeding, building and creating jobs for them.. "WE" are doing it... Wooo what about "US" what about our own country, and see that is why I don't talk about the things like this.. Well back on subject, do we really have enough Americans that are willing to put everything they have worked hard for on the line for protesting against a government that we all know as soon as we lined up in front of a Government building to make an attempt to be heard, we'd be surrounded in two seconds with swat teams etc. I don't think we'd have a chance in hell to pull off something like this in this day in age, like mentioned we are lazy, content and basically have grown accustom to "our government" we have become to tolerate.

It's mad crazy in this day in age, we sink into depression when a hurricane, tornado, flood destroys our belongings, lives etc. Which is understandable, but for us to cause our own destruction ?? No Americans just aren't prepared for something like that to happen here....

  11. Great post, even if we dont agree with all our Presidents choices, I think we should pray for him, and yes we should worrie about the situation's here at home.

  12. I agree. I think Americans need to realize that patriotism is something that we need to live everyday, not just something we bring out when we hear the National Anthem or see compelling videos of our troops coming home.
I think that complacency is the downfall of any society, and I think we are leaning that way.

  14. Finally!Great topic. I am a 55 year old male. I live way out in the country. For those of you who think all this stuff going on here in America and oversea is being dismissed you are sadly mistaken. I talk with people every day that is totally fed up with the way things are in the U.S. right now. There are many who are ready to do something about it and they see all this going on over seas and it scares me to death. I to have served my country and would die for it. I do not want to see it self destruct but if our government don't get it's head out of it's a#$% that's what is going to happen.I for one happen to believe in the Constitution and all that is in it including the right to bear arms! I just pray to god that I don't need to use mine ever against any human. As the world is today I would be afraid to live without it. Bring our gas back down to $1.50 a gallon and see how much that helps . it is a big part of our problem. Fuel is the driving force behind our nation when it goes up so does everything else! Then everything else starts to go bad because food, water, electric, it all goes up then the economy goes to hell. that's where we are now. Don't let the people in our nation wake up. they are not sleeping they are just resting with one eye open and are very alert. I just hope the time don't come as soon as I think it will and I hope the government will get it's act together sooner than later. Starve people long enough and they will act. Start depriving of what they have and cant get back they will act. I am afraid if we keep going as a nation they will act. GET IT TOGETHER AMERICA AND STAND TALL AND PROUD!
