If It Doesn't Kill You Then It Will Annoy You...

Let's vent eh?  I am not a major complainer but I am human.  Things get to me just as much as the next guy or girl.  So let's do it.  I am gonna share with you, things that annoy and irk me.  I hope that you will leave a comment and feel free to add anything that I have missed or that you want to share.  I hope there are a lot of comments on this one because I want to see what everybody thinks is annoying.  It's a learning experience!  Now, in no particular order, here are some of my pet peeves.
Over analyzing is a good place to start. Oh man, don't you hate it?  You say something like "I thought you were sleeping and that's why I haven't called you yet" and then you hear...  What does that mean?  So what are you trying to say?  You think all I do is sleep?  So are you trying to call me lazy?  I wonder how all of that came out of what I just said.  It is so very annoying.  Maybe it means that I just thought you might be asleep.
Automated phone systems are another sore point.  They suck.  I take a real disliking to the ones that also use the voice recognition type of technology.  Press or say 1 if you are inquiring about a checking account.  Then, achoooo!  I am sorry, did you say 2?  Press or say 1 if you said 2, press or say 2 if you said something else, or press or say 3 if you want to return to the main menu.  And it goes on and on and on...  How annoying?
Alarm clock buzzing is exactly what I want to hear in the morning.  This sound is dreaded for different reasons.  It can mean the end of a great weekend on a Monday morning.  It could mean that you gotta get up now and dress for work no matter if you are still tired.  It could also mean that you forgot to shut it off and now you woke up early on a Saturday for nothing.  One thing is for sure, that dreadful tone is unwelcome at my place.  I usually wake up not too long before it goes off for that very reason.  It irks me.
Slurping annoys me to no end.  For me, Slurping is a very annoying sound that drives me crazy.  It is bad enough for someone to slurp on a cup of coffee or a drink.  But, people will slurp on anything as long as there is any amount of liquid in the food.  Loud annoying slurping sounds while everybody is eating.  I am like, what the ef are you slurping on; it's spaghetti.  This ranks high on the list with me.
Toilet up splash irritates me too.  It is super funny that it does but it does.  When you are on the toilet and you start dropping bombs and, as you are still sitting there, you feel the water splash up on your ass.  Ewwww, nasty toilet water...  It just makes me mad that the raunchy toilet water hit my skin, not to mention the fact that it is cold.  It makes me feel all dirty.
That is just a taste of what irks me.  Over analyzing, automated phone systems, alarm clock buzzing, slurping noises when eating (lol), and the infamous toilet up splash are just a few examples of things that get on my nerves.  What annoys you?  I know you wanna tell me.

  1. I agree with all of these. Adding to the soup, I hate when I'm walking down the street deep in thought, as I tend to do because I actually have a brain underneath all of these hair follicles and some random dude tells me to smile. Or asks me why I'm not smiling. Or tells me I'm too pretty to not be smiling. Or he'll ask me why I look so evil. ARRGH! Who the heck walks down the street smiling all the time. I'm really a friendly person, but my goodness! LOL!

  2. First they take you through the automated bit then comes the god-awful on-hold music (I'm no musician by a long stretch but if I were and came up with anything of that "quality," I'd know it was time to hang it up and start looking for the "real job."). Finally, you get ahold of a real person but they can't help you with your issue so back on hold you go while you're being transferred. Sometimes this happens more than once during the same call. Then, more often than not, at the end of it all, they have the nerve to ask you to take a survey to rate your satisfaction (as if). Very annoying indeed. Great article, though.

  3. @Tameka...I can definitely see how annoying that would be and I understand completely. Thank you for stopping by, reading, and commenting!

@John...What you added is so very true. I actually am in the process of getting jerked around by Dell Computers as we speak. I gotta call them back this week so we will see what happens...lol Thanks for the comment!

  4. I hear you Ricky lol I had the same problem with HP a few years ago. You call they try fix it then transfer you where you need to explain the problem again and the this whole process repeats itself with a third person. Finally I am told I need to send it back for service. I explain this is third time in 1.5 years and she gives me this corporate bull about being sorry but!!!!! When I told her I wanted anew one , I was told to send it back and they would see if they could fix it again and if they could not they would replace it. Second time I had heard that in ayear.

    I switched to Mac

    lol

  5. Lots of pet peeves I can relate to here, particularly the automated phone systems that never take you where you want to go, and dudes who always think you should be smiling at them! To add, I also hate it when someone says, "Didn't I tell you about that" when I know darn well this is the first time I'm hearing about it. I'm not losing my memory that quickly! :-)

  6. Cheap Bartenders annoy me. Is it going to break the bank to put a little bit more than an ounce in a drink. Measuring like a scientist in a sterile enviroment just shows how anal they are. Slop it in there and make the customer happy. I'll drink more and tip really well.

  7. Yeah...those are all annoying, but to me there are some more such as people try to but off in the middle of our conversation...bhuah...that is really annoying. Or people pretend to know everything but not...wow that was annoying or...people who are snoring (oeps sorry men!) that is also annoying...hahahahaha

  8. @Jim...Thanks for stopping by man! Yeah, I am done with these guys (Dell). I don't know whose next though.

@Adriene...Yep, people that declare that they didn't or did say something to you and you know that they did/didn't; very annoying. Thanks for the comment!

@Ed...I hate the bartender thing too. I usually complain like "Is there any liquor in this because I can't taste it?" and they will show me as they pour more into the glass. I appreciate your input.

@Neneng...yes, the list goes on and on and on... I really hate when someone butts there way into the conversation. I can hear someone slurping on soup right now...lol. Thank you!

Nice input everybody. I appreciate all of you taking the time out to read and comment. I know how busy you can get so thanks again.

  9. I'm reading over everyone's rants and I can also relate to them all! HA! Ricky thanks for this forum to help us let it all out! I can see this being a series of webisodes or a TV show with comedic bits. ;-)

  11. My pet peeve: I can't stand it when people use the phrase "in terms of" The people who use it seem to say it often and it is just a form of mental and verbal laziness because they can't think of other words!

  12. Ha, just this morning I woke up to the alarm I forgot to turn off yesterday. I hate the sound of people clipping their nails. Do that in private please and not in public.
